My Students

Frog dissections are a huge part of Biology! Many students do not have the chance to dissect anything before they graduate from high school. Such a sad state of affairs.

My students attend a diverse school in VA.

They love doing labs and any chance to do hands-on activities. They have been looking forward to this since the first day of school when I presented a slideshow of last year's dissections. Please help us give them this opportunity!

My Project

Frog dissections are the first step for these students. First, they learn the systems of the body through a project. Then the work with other groups to relate how one system works with another. Finally, they get their frog and their little faces just light up! They find all the organs and systems they have been learning about and can relate structure to function.

Many high school students do not understand their own body.

Through this lab and a human body systems project, students learn more about themselves and can thus make better choices about their health in the future.
