My Students

Students in my class have a dream. A dream to learn more about famous people. They want to achieve their dream of learning about these people by reading biographies.

I have a wonderful second grade class with 20 students.

We are a Title 1 school in a suburban area. The range of reading levels in our class is BR to Lexile 875. This is a wide range of reading levels. Our class is made up of 12 boys and 8 girls. The boys love to read the sports biographies.

My Project

With the addition of these biographies, my students will be able to open a book and find out about famous people. My student will use these books to do research and learn about famous people. Also, they will be able to use books during fluency time. They will learn about the lives of famous people and provide practice at the student's independent reading levels.

This project will encourage the reluctant reader to read because the biographies will be on their reading level, and there will be a selection of different famous people so that students can find a person that appeals to them.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
