Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What did you know about the stock market when you were 9? Did you understand investing? My students don't understand investing, the stock market, or even the relationship between money and mathematics. I want to give them the opportunity to have this experience through this project.

I teach 4th grade at a school in an economically challenged area in California.

My students are a diverse group of learners, but most of them come from homes that are also economically challenged. They don't get to hear about topics like investing, profit, loss, and saving money at home. Many of them don't have Internet access at home, and would have no opportunity to do any research outside of school.

My Project

We need a laptop that can access the Internet so that I can have my students participate in a stock market game via the Internet. In this game, the students will learn about stocks, research companies, and analyze the growth and progress of the companies they choose. They will learn about supply and demand, free enterprise, and the value of money, while competing with students from more affluent school districts around the country.

This experience has been shown to be an inspiration to former students.

This game can give my students skills that can lead them in choosing a career, or help them gain valuable life skills for the future. Please help inspire my students by supporting my program.
