Using Technology to Pique Students' Love of Learning

My students need an opportunity to navigate through a tablet, using apps to practice their math and reading skills, as well as science and history vocabulary.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the first time you played on a computer? With different programs, anything was suddenly more intriguing and fun! WIth this tablet, I am hoping to pique that interest in my students enough that even practicing the most basic skills will be a game for them!

I have 47 precocious 6th graders in my class.

Our school is located on the edge of downtown, where one side is filled with extreme poverty, and the other with high rises filled with huge corporations. My students are filled with excitement for learning, while many of them still struggle with basic skills in math and English.

My Project

Having a tablet in my classroom will open up a world of knowledge for my students. I have one student that struggles with differentiating between letters. Being able to play word games and reading apps will help him tremendously. I also have a quarter of the class that are considered advanced in all subjects. These students also are quick test takers. Having a tablet will also benefit these students by being able to play challenging algebra games or having access to ebooks.

Having this tablet will help me reach more students.

I can help the struggling students get extra basic skills practice. I can enrich the learning of my advanced students. My students will also be exposed to the technology that is so prominent in today's world. Please help me pique the interest of all my students!
