Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students need to learn new ways to de-stress and increase physical and mental health.

I teach fourth grade in a regular education and magnet school in California.

For physical education I have one hundred twenty-five students. They are a diverse group in their abilities and needs. They are intelligent, creative, curious, eager to learn, and open to new ideas.

My Project

For physical education I team teach with three other fourth grade teachers. We rotate one hundred twenty-five students and each teaches something different. I have taught yoga for several years but have only been able to do the standing poses with the students. With mats I would be able to extend their learning and their experience.

Students who learn and practice yoga will be able to use these skills in their everyday life.

They will be able to use these skills to de-stress during standardized testing this year and for any stressful situation they encounter in the years to come!

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
