My Students

What came first? The chicken or the egg? Our first grade students want to find out where their eggs and chickens come from besides Wal-Mart.

My students are a class of 18 first grade students from low socio-economically disadvantaged families.

Due to the current budget crisis, our students are not able to have field trips to places to help them get the hands on experiences that will help them better understand the content in class.

My Project

My students will be able to place fresh eggs in an incubator and count down the days of hatching. We will use the life cycle materials to study the life cycle of the chicken and the phases of the baby chick as it is growing inside the egg. It will enable us to bring the wonder of nature into the classroom.

In the modernized world, too many children don't have the opportunity to see how things work or where things come from.

This project will enable me to teach my children things that I could not other wise teach in a classroom setting.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
