This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

It's January and this teacher is thinking about summer vacation? Yes, it's true. Teachers never stop thinking about the future of today's students.

Every morning I am greeted with smiles and "good mornings" from my first grade students.

They love coming to school. They love the routine of school. These wonderful kids come from families of many cultures. They are second language learners. Some start their day at school by eating breakfast through the free and reduced lunch program. School is the normalcy in their young lives.

My Project

I am requesting a class set of the Summer Bridge Activity books. I love what it says on the Summer Bridge's website, "School Stops for Summer, Learning Never Should." For many of my students, learning does stop. With these activity books, these wonderful students could work on skills to keep them fresh for second grade. This book will give these great kids a fun way to practice skills learned in first grade and help them be ready for second grade. Our second grade teachers love it when the students come ready to work at the second grade level.

When school is out for summer, this book will give these great kids something to work on at home at an individual pace.

When I was younger, playing school during summer was a favorite pastime. This book will allow my students to "play school" this summer.
