Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Did you know that Dr. Seuss celebrates his birthday on March 2nd? This year we will be spending a whole week learning about Dr. Seuss and his writing style.

My students are public school Kindergarteners in a low socio-economic area with limited English vocabulary.

I am inspired everyday to facilitate their learning and provide them with a variety of literacy tools to guide them on their journey to becoming readers. Although my students have limited English skills, they are very interested in learning and continue to amaze me with their intelligence everyday.

My Project

I am requesting a Dr. Seuss book for each of my students to give them as a culminating gift to our week long celebration of Dr. Seuss. Every year we have a week long celebration of Dr. Seuss, his books and of reading in general. We have parents and volunteers come in to the classroom to read Dr. Seuss books and we do a variety of activities around Dr. Seuss' books. I think it would be awesome for students to be able to take home a Dr. Seuss book at the end of our week as a beautiful reminder of the week we spent learning all about Dr. Seuss. This book will be one the students continue to use and share with their brothers and sisters.

I think this is an important project because many children begin reading with Dr. Seuss books and it would be great for them to have one of Dr. Seuss' classic books at home to jump start their reading.
