Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an inspiring group of preschoolers, each with varying degrees of special needs. With moderate to severe language delays, they learn through playing. To learn new concepts, they need highly interactive, motivating materials that reinforce concepts, and encourage language development.

Our school is a preschool through 5th, public elementary school.

The majority of our students are English language learners, and many do not have access to educational materials that help to make learning fun. My preschool special education class is new this year to our school, and resources and materials are limited! Since play is the natural way in which preschoolers learn, we are in serious need of materials that will capture the students' attention, give them the opportunity to play, and as a result learn much needed skills necessary for success in kindergarten.

My Project

We are requesting a variety of hands-on, interactive manipulatives that are highly motivating and engaging. These materials will assist our students in developing a variety of skills. Students will have the opportunity to learn early math skills, visual discrimination, fine motor skills, color and shape identification, and so much more! All lessons in my classroom are an opportunity for building social skills, and developing language. Using these new materials with small groups of students will help build social relationships with peers, and encourage the language skills they are all in need of.

My students are in need of highly motivating and interactive materials that will help to introduce and reinforce basic skills, and at the same time will promote the building of social skills, and encourage the development of their expressive and receptive language skills.
