Robots need programming to get the job done! My students need a new programming laptop to help build their robot. With a new laptop, this year’s robot will have a good chance of winning the 2012 FIRST Regional Competition in Long Beach, California.
Our robotics team attends a small magnet high school in Southern CA.
The students are dedicated, hard-working, and intelligent. They spend the first five months of the school year preparing to build the robot for the FIRST Long Beach Competition. They willingly use the majority of their time programming, building, and raising funds for our team. They often arrive in the wee hours of the morning, leaving well past "the midnight hour," while still attending classes and getting homework done. The robotics team is student–run with a little help from mentors.
My Project
By using this laptop, the students will be able to program the robot efficiently during the FIRST competition in Long Beach. This upcoming March, we will get the chance to compete with robotics teams all across the nation. Hopefully, with the new programmed robot, we could win. Our whole operation in robotics is built around technology, and without it, the kids won’t be able to reach their full potential. These students are learning skills equivalent to those taught at the college level. They are acquiring essential skills that they can use for college and future careers.
These students are the most devoted team I have worked with.
Their love for this sport has inspired me more than any other year. This is a talented team, unfortunately they have not been able to reach their full potential due to lack of funding. With the amount of time these kids put into working after school and on weekends, they deserve to have the best. With your help, we can get this computer and win the 2012 FIRST Robotics regional!
