My Students

Do you remember what it was like playing a math game and having fun and not realizing that you were learning? My students need hands on materials for math.

My students are special education students in grades K-4.

My students have disabilities ranging from learning disabilities, autism, Down Syndrome, attention deficit disorder and behavior problems. Our district is a rural district. Four of our schools are in town and two of the schools are in the country. We are one of those country schools.

My Project

My students have difficulties with math skills. Pencil and paper activities are not always what my students need to be successful. Having materials to enhance the math skills we have learned will be a wonderful addition to my classroom. Grade level games and manipulative's are not appropriate for my students who are working at a lower level. Using lower grade materials for some of my students is difficult because they are too immature or babyish for them to use. Hands-on materials work best for all of my students, as they are hands-on learners.

My students need appropriate hands on materials for math.

Having a variety of different activities for my students to use will enhance their math skills and give them the opportunity to practice what they have learned.
