"I teach ESL for students in grades 3-6. I have a 6th grade student who has been in the country for over 3 years and can barely decode. His speaking and listening scores are high, but he is reading at a first grade level (barely). We are providing him with many services, including Wilson, but the impact has been slow and he is extremely frustrated, especially since his comprehension is high.
I want high-interest books on tape (with texts), along with a set of cool-looking head phones (to protect his image in front of the other 6th graders). Books on tape will help him build word recognition but will also enable him to practice his comprehension on texts above his decoding level until he is able to improve his decoding ability.
I also believe that the books on tape will benefit my other students, including a 3rd grader who is also struggling to decode.
The cost of the books on tape is $472, including shipping and fulfillment.

Dear Total , Faith, Ken and Julie and Chris,
Thank you so much for helping to support my struggling readers. They have patiently sat through years of English classes, pretending to read the high level books that their peers long enjoyed. I know that the books on tape will help them to develop their fluency, facilitate their decoding and enable them to practice their reading comprehension skills. Your generosity and investment in their education is greatly appreciated!
