My Students

Do you remember the first time you found the love of reading? Was it when you read to yourself at night? Was it when you got to check out a new book from the library or purchase a book from the book fair? I am constantly trying to help my students find their own "reading happy place."

I teach kindergarten in a relatively new (this is our 3rd year) school in North Carolina.

The students in my class range in age from 5-6 and love to learn. They love to read, write, solve problems, and do anything that is connected to technology. They are constantly amazing me with what they can do with the resources that they have. My students have very different backgrounds and are on different educational levels but can all benefit from technology

My Project

This Nook is so important to my classroom because it will enhance my teaching and will inspire my students to learn more and to try new things. I can only imagine the excitement of my students if we had a NOOK. It will help stories to come to life! With the Nook, I will be able to download books of all different reading levels and topics. I will be able to reach learners who are just beginning to ID letters and those learners who are reading at a 2nd grade reading level. I will be able to put books about all different topics and structure my teaching even more to meet the needs of my students.

This project is so important because it will make such a difference in the lives of my students.

This project will help me reach all kinds of learners from above grade level students to students who are still struggling to learn the ABC's and sight words. By having the Nook in my class, I will be able to reach learners in a new way with a new technology, and I will be able to help prepare my students for their lives in the 21st century.
