My students need glue, erasers, and the 3 Newbery Award winning novels "Walk Two Moons", "Bud Not Buddy", and "My Brother Sam Is Dead" that will enrich our English curriculum.

My Students

As a new school, we are working to build our curriculum with quality materials. The novels chosen will introduce students to imaginative settings and interesting characters.

Our students and their families have chosen to attend our charter school.

They've chosen to be the first students to help build our school. Much of the day is spent learning Spanish. During English, our students learn important strategies that will help them be successful in both languages.

My Project

All students should have access to quality literature. Literature that makes students think critically helps them become thoughtful people. The books our English team have chosen for English class are no exception. Each book has won a Newbery Medal or honor for its content and is hugely popular in classrooms.

If we obtain these novels, our 4th and 5th grade classroom will read, analyze and explore themes that are important and will catch their attention.

The lessons planned involve whole class discussion, reflective writing, dramatic reenactments and book club style group conversations.
