This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a science teacher at a public school where 65% of students are English learners and need a lot of hands on activities and labs to make science more comprehensible. I try to do labs to support my students learning but we need to take care of the safety first with good safety materials.

My school is located in California where there are a lot of bilingual students who are curious to know more about science , but the chemistry concepts are so abstract to them.

I am trying to do more labs and activities to make them be more involved in their education ,and to help them learn more about the science world. Safety is the key component for a successful laboratory session, I am trying to get my students the best protective goggles and some safety blankets to be more safe in the chemistry lab.

My Project

Experiments in a chemistry class are essential , but safety is my first concern. I want my students to know the safety rules and know how to apply them and I want them to work carefully in a way that keeps them and their partners safe. Goggles and safety blankets help them stay safe during a chemistry session.

To make the lab session more safe and more effective we need students to protect their eyes with good goggles, and if they did make any mistake that causes fire they need to have the necessary materials to kill the fire, so the fire blankets are very essential.

Also they have to know about the safety rules and how to apply it in the right way, definitely safety material will help them survive any lab.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
