Inspire a Love of Reading

My students need 34 engaging fiction books they can use for independent reading projects and for leisure reading.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help me engage students. The students at my school love to read and are always asking when the next batch of new books will come. Unfortunately, we do not have a budget to develop our library from scratch this year. Help me bring them the books they want along with books that will challenge them.

Seventy five percent of the innner-city students I teach come from low income households.

Many of them are first generation Americans whose parents don't speak English at home. These students need engaging books to read. My goal is to provide them with as many resources as possible, so they can investigate topics and books they have heard of as well as challenge themselves to learn new things.

My Project

I have requested a variety of engaging young adult and classic fiction books. I want to provide these items to my students so they can grow as readers and as people. The titles are high interest fiction books dealing with a variety of topics that will engage students.

Help make a difference in the lives of young people.

Students at my school love to read, but often cannot use the public library system because they accrued fines they cannot afford to pay. With a variety of titles available at their school library, students will have access to books and pick up a lifelong, enriching pastime.
