Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We wish there were more activities and games during centers!" My college-bound kindergarten students are eager to practice their burgeoning reading and math skills, but we don't have enough resources or games during centers to help them hone these skills.

My students are Kindergarten Leaders in Southern California.

At our school, more than 80 percent of our students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. We are part of a network of charter schools that was featured in the documentary, "Waiting for Superman." We are committed to ensuring that all of our students go to and through college. By providing my students with resources and games that meet their needs, we will be laying the foundation for success in college and life.

My Project

I am requesting enough games so all of my students will have a diverse selection of activities to complete during our daily literacy and math center blocks. They will be able to select a game that they can play independently and that meets their personal needs. Not only will this allow them to practice a skill they have yet to master, but it will also allow me to deliver small group instruction without worrying if my students are engaging in worthwhile activities. By giving them games that are tailored to their needs, they will hone their reading and math skills and be ready to tackle more rigorous concepts in the near future.

The literacy and math games are very important to fulfilling the mission of our school and to mastering the California state standards.

By becoming strong readers and mathematicians in kindergarten, my students will be set up for academic success throughout the rest of their schooling.
