My students need over 40 books to help my kindergarten students become better readers. We need 25 book baggies for them to save their just right books in.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever wanted to enjoy books and reading but had none? My students love to read and are just learning to read properly. However, there are no books in the classroom that are on their reading level. To become good readers they need good books. Please help them as they need support greatly.
The children at my school need your support greatly.
Many have a parent that is or has been incarcerated. Many of my students come from foster homes as well as homeless shelters. In spite of the great poverty and crime in this area, my students are loving, caring hard working students. They are the sort of children you care about and wish good things for. They are wonderful and really but really do need a support. Many of my students do not have parents that help them with reading, as a result reading skills are very low in my classroom. My school needs to have more interesting books for these at risk children to utilize as they learn to read.
My students need over 40 books to read. In a few weeks I will be starting a non-fiction unit with the kindergarten students. The few fiction books in our classroom are books I was able to pick up at book drives. We are desperate for books. The children get bored with the same books each day in their hands.
My Project
My students need over 40 books and 25 book baggies. These children need an environment rich with a variety of literature. They also need book baggies to hold their just right books so that they are easily accessible during the day.
My reading to the children defeats the purpose of them having an "independent reading" time. Most of the books in my room are books to read aloud to the children. I do not have enough books that the children can read on their own to improve their reading skills. Some books would truly benefit my students, they would improve greatly if given a fair chance to improve their skills. They truly need some interesting fun books to learn to read with. They need to improve their reading skills as its very low.
My students can succeed but to do so they need a great deal of support from people who will take the time to care about what happens to them. My students can only be successful if someone supports them. The school environment is not providing all of the materials the children need to be successful.
These children need an environment rich with a variety of literature.
Please support them as you can provide the opportunity for them to be successful students and in turn successful adults. When children have fun and interesting books to explore they become very focused and a great deal of learning takes place in our room. They love non-fiction and have great fun with rhyming books also. Books are necessary and very needed in my classroom. I hope someone can help my students.
