No Bullies Allowed...Deep Down, We Have So Much in Common!
My students need 20 copies of "Bullying in Schools," microscopes, and a variety of slides to conduct science experiments that will prove deep down we are all the same.
The effects of bullying linger for a lifetime. Research says bullying occurs when students aren't provided opportunities to build relationships with other students by finding commonalities. This project will teach students how to handle bullying, get help, and build respectful relationships.
My students face many challenges but are dedicated & eager learners.
Our school is over 90% free & reduced lunch. We're a Title One school serving high populations of minorities, ELL, ESL, Second Language Learners, military, & single-parent homes, all with high mobility rates. School budgets are cut each year with little funding for individual classroom needs like books & supplies. Even faced with these challenges, my students come to school each day excited to learn & ready to work hard. They have goals of success in middle school, high school, college, the work force, & in their careers. We have an obligation to help these students overcome their challenges & reach their goals. My students set high expectations for themselves & need the best available materials to reach these standards. The Bullying in Schools books will help teach the students how to handle bullies while the science materials will allow us to see the commonalities between us all the way down to the cellular level.
My Project
The 25 Bullying in Schools books will be used to educate my students how to recognize a bully, how to handle bullying situations, and how to get help. This book will also teach students how to respect and care for each other. While reading Bullying in Schools, we will do several activities to bring our classroom together as a unit. We'll do team building exercises and getting to know you activities. It is proven that students are more likely to bully and more likely to get bullied if they do not feel like their are part of a group of peers. The more my students can understand each other, the less likely bullying will occur. We will use the science materials for students to explore & discover we all have commonalities between us...even down at the cellular level. Students will work together in NEW teams to make projects and presentations. Relying on each other will build a stronger sense of community within the classroom.
You can make a huge difference in the lives of my students by providing these Bullying in Schools books, microscopes and prepared slides for experiments!
These materials will not only enhance my students' content knowledge, but these materials will also help reduce bullying in our class by giving kids the opportunity to bond with their classmates through learning. If we can stop one child from being bullied, this project is completely worth it. Please support us!
