My Students

Let's write! My students are writers and we write everyday. We need some more supplies for our lessons and to make books. We also need some treats to help us celebrate our writing. I am so proud of my classroom full of fourth and fifth grade authors!

I teach fourth and fifth graders in a big city in Texas.

We are an ESL classroom and all of my students are new to the United States. I have students from El Salvador, Mexico, the Philippines, Vietnam, Spain, and Pakistan. They are all working hard to learn to speak, read, and write in English!

My Project

Our favorite time of the day is "Writers Workshop." I teach a short writing lesson and then the students have time to write. While the students write, I conference with individual students about their writing. Afterward, we have a celebration time and several students share what their writing. Writing is challenging for my ESL students, but they work hard and do a great job. The writing materials that I have requested will keep students motivated and let students turn their daily writing into a book. We need more writing materials to help keep our writers workshop going for these wonderful group of students.
