"I am an ESL first grade teacher in a low socio-economic school. We recently purchased a wonderful resource for our first grade classes called PHONICS LESSONS; LETTERS, WORDS, AND HOW THEY WORK, by Gay Su Pinnell & Irene Fountas. My students need many opportunities for literacy development, and this manual has a wealth of reproducible activities such as game boards, word lists, assessment charts, and more.

The problem that I discovered last year was that I just didn't have the free time to copy and laminate the extensive amount of manipulatives that go with this resource. I have found the Manipulative Kit for Use with Phonics Lessons an organized, durable manipulative kit that will give me more time on teaching, and less on duplicating and cutting materials. This kit was developed to go along with the Pinnell/Fountas resource that we began using this year.

My class will have instant support for lessons in early literacy concepts, sound sorting, letter/sound knowledge, phonological and phonemic awareness, word building, high frequency words, spelling, word study, and word meaning. Everything is organized, contained, and ready to go. All of my students would benefit from having hands-on literacy materials.

My goal is that all of my first grade students would become lifelong skilled, fluent readers and writers, and this kit would be a tremendous tool to help me achieve that goal. Please help my class to receive the quality items that will help them to become the very best that they can be!
