My students need a new mat cutter since they need to cut over one thousand mats for our art show each year and our old mat cutter is not cutting accurately any more.

My Students

In our classroom, something as simple as cutting a mat has become an ordeal. Because our mat cutter has been in nonstop production mode for years, it is nearly impossible to cut an even mat to showcase the artwork of the our Art Students.

Our High School is an outstanding secondary institution that offers students a stimulating and diverse academic program delivered by an experienced and dedicated faculty.

Our students perform at very high levels while maintaining substantial involvement in interscholastic sports, clubs, activities, and community service. The district takes pride in the level of academic rigor that is provided to students in all subject areas, from fine and practical arts to the most advanced science and mathematics courses.

My Project

Our students will become more self sufficient with the addition of a new Logan mat cutter in our classroom. They will be able to cut mats to match the exact size of their artwork for art shows and their Advanced Placement portfolio. In addition, the students become familiar with professional presentation practices. We buy mat board in bulk to save money, so it always needs to be cut to size. Our current mat cutter has been in service for many years. Because of overuse, it cuts off track, and is difficult to adjust, thus our mats are not even.

Currently when the Art Students’ work is exhibited, the mats are not always even, so the work is not exhibited in its best possible presentation.

The off kilter mats are a distraction from the outstanding work of our students. With a new Logan mat cutter, this won’t be a problem because the mats won’t detract from our students’ work, but will enhance it. Please help us with this project, Because It Matters.
