My Students

Do you know the feeling you get when you do something kind to make someone else happy? That's what being a "Bucket Filler" is all about!

The students in my school are a wonderful, diverse group of boys and girls.

They attend a Title One School in an otherwise affluent school district. One of the most important lessons we can teach them is that the road to happiness begins with being kind to others.

My Project

The story "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" tells how we all carry an invisible bucket that holds our feelings of happiness. You can fill someone else's bucket by being kind to them. The only way you can fill your own bucket is by filling someone else's. My class has gotten very good at being "Bucket Fillers," and now I'd love for the rest of the school to join in!

By providing each teacher in the schools with these books to use and refer to, our whole school can adopt this philosophy and we can be a "Bucket Filling School!" With all classes being familiar with the story, and using the same language, our buckets will be running over with happiness.
