My Students

Do you remember the first time you used a computer? Whether it was to write a story or play a game, that memory hangs with you - this can be that moment for these students! Their first exposure to the wonders of technology!

We are a tiny school located in rural America; where the recession has hit hardest.

While we don't struggle in heart or ability, we lack the funding to support our students in all the ways they need. This Elmo is one piece to the greater puzzle; our hope to let our students not fall further behind in the educational gap. Small town, big dreams; that's who we are, though that doesn't define us. Think 1980s John Cougar Mellencamp.

My Project

Imagine being a 5 year old seeing a book come to life for the first time... Having access to an ELMO and the web can really help stimulate and nurture our students' excitement to read. Ideally, it would be used regularly for the visual and auditory learners; those that haven't unlocked the totality of reading.

There are so many animated, digital books available today, we just have no way to bring it to the whole class - students clamor for the computers, but with such limited space and availability, having a whole group medium would solve many problems while fostering that desire to read.
