My students need a book binding machine, spiral binding combs and easels for all occasions.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Imagine being able to turn an original illustrated story into a book or your photos into a calendar,or an easel to organize any occasion. Imagine the possibilities!
Our high school has an enrollment of approximately 1085 students with only one Visual Arts teacher.
The students live in and around a small town in North Carolina. I view our students as an eclectic group with farming roots. Though many of the families have a farming background, there is a strong military family presence in our community. This very fact brings into our school students and staff of many backgrounds and influences. Overall we maintain a rigorous, relevant, and safe academic environment guided by positive relationships.
Students will create an original story and artwork to be made into a book. To do this the students will need a bookbinding machine and spiral combs. With your funding, students will be given the opportunity to make their own books; combine creativity and curriculum; drawing and writing; and instruction and construction. The more books students make, the more it nurtures and promotes reading, writing and the arts. Making their own book is not only fun, but helps create a sense enthusiasm and build student self-esteem. The second set of resources requested for this project is easels. Easels make sketching, drawing and painting much easier for the student because it puts the paper or canvas at the right level for working and tools in an organized space. Easels provide the proper setup for working because most easels come with attached trays or shelves where art supplies can be neatly kept and organized.
There is nothing more discouraging to a promising young artist than not have the necessary supplies needed.
By having the proper equipment and supplies on hand and ready to use, it will inspire and help student artists develop their talents. Bookmaking resources and access to proper tools like easels will create the perfect environment for creating original masterpieces, and with your support future artists, designers and writers will be positively impacted.
