This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember your excitement when you got to do a project on one of your favorite topics. Now imagine not having access to the research needed to complete that project. My students love to do research projects but many do not have access to a computer or Internet at home.

My students are low-income students in an urban school.

They are second grade gifted students who have a great love of learning. Every time I introduce a new unit the first question they ask is "Do we get to do research projects?" My students love to be able to access information on the Internet through kid-friendly sites such as www.brainpopjr.com and www.sraimagineit.com. These websites help fuel their thirst for knowledge.

My Project

With a laptop computer in my classroom my students will have more opportunities to access the Internet to research topics in class, to access our reading series website (to practice reading and phonics skills), and to utilize software to reinforce math and science skills.

The world is increasingly dependent on technology and my students need every opportunity to become part of this technological world, with a laptop in the classroom they can come closer to reaching that goal.
