Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember in college highlighting, underlining, and marking up a textbook while reading? My students need post-it notes so that they can learn and practice this valuable reading skill.

My students are juniors at a public school in an urban area of New York.

Many of them will be the first in their families to graduate from high school and attend college. They are eager to learn and are engaged in reading various works of literature in preparation for graduating high school successfully and attending college.

My Project

In English class, we are focusing learning the college-ready skill of annotating a text but we can't write in the books we are reading. We have been using Post-It notes as a way to annotate our text but we need more! Students are learning to ask questions, write down key information, note important passages for discussion, and mark up a text where they notice the use of literary elements. These new post-it notes will allow students to continue to "write" in their books and become active readers of higher-level texts.

Please help to donate post-it notes to my students so that they can continue to learn the importance of annotating a text and continue to practice active reading skills.

Post-it notes bring a smile to my students' faces and your donation will allow them to continue using these valuable reading resources.
