My Students

What is hands on learning without supplies to have on hand for the students to use? My students are lacking supplies due to budget cuts and need your help.

I call my students "4 year old explorers" because that is exactly what they do - Explore my classroom.

They learn simply from the smallest things to the biggest things. Our art center is the most popular center because they get to use their creativity to reinforce the lessons and skills I have taught them. Along with art center, dramatic play is also one of their favorite centers. They make the lessons "come alive". They teach me how they actually comprehend what I teach them. It is awesome!

My Project

With the supplies requested the students will be able to create art projects that will not limit their creativity. In the school system I teach in, the requirements for Prek is to not limit their hands on learning. All learning centers are student directed. Therefore, if one student learns their colors by gluing colored macaroni on a felt sheet, then they are to be allowed that project. If another student learns the skill of sharing and caring by becoming a doctor, they should have the liberty to do so. Our upcoming art projects will teach about changing of seasons and holidays. The students will be encouraged to draw a picture of their favorite season and decorate the picture using their imagination. In dramatic play, we will role play hibernation, the students will store food for the winter. Therefore, as the teacher I need to have all items on hand. I do understand our school system financial situation however, the children are hurting because of the situation.

Your donation to my Prek class will impact my students because it will allow continual hands on learning experiences.

Hands on learning is the only way 4 year olds learn best. I have made several purchases for the class this school year, however it has been a struggle financially for myself also. So your donations will not only help my students learning but also help their teacher to be the best she can be with the appropriate resources.
