POST-IT Art for our School's Windows!

My students need post-it notes to create monumental Post-it note mosaics on the enormous windows in our school. It worked in Paris, and now it'll work in New York!

My Students

Imagine a building with floor-to-ceiling windows that are tinted a dull gray color...Now imagine those boring windows HIGHLIGHTED with MASSIVE MURALS made from POST-IT'S! I want to help my students transform my school's architecture with simple materials arranged in complex mathematical ways.

My students have always shown enthusiasm for working together as a school community.

Despite being from different backgrounds, they have come together as a whole to develop our school into something amazing. Our school is on the cutting edge of public art projects, and we have embraced murals and site-specific sculptures as part of the lexicon of our school. Now it is time for POST-IT ART to change the way we see our learning space.

My Project

I am requesting copious amounts of Post-it notes that will provide for this project and many more as they are recycled into numerous other projects. Post-It Art will show my students how to address forms of architecture with public art. This project has an intense process behind it. It will teach them the mathematics behind pixels formations, and how monitors build imagery from simple squares of color. Students will learn to refine their geometry skills in order to create their artwork. Finally once the designs are complete, students will work in teams using ladders and scaffolds to display their artwork to the public.

This project is an opportunity for my students to connect with the artistic landscape in my school's neighborhood.

By creating large scale mosaics with post-it notes we will be able to transform our entire building into a stunning work of community art.
