An Extra Pair of Hands in Literacy Instruction!

My Students

"Mrs. S., I can't see!" Do you remember being too little to see things? We would like a magnetic dry erase cart to help us learn! We use a lot of big books, charts and other visual aids during our lessons, and they can become difficult to see when I have to hold them and teach a lesson.

My kids are AWESOME!

I am a kindergarten teacher at an all kindergarten school. We are in a city district in small north east Alabama, and we educate over 400 kindergarten students everyday! I love those little babies! Our school is a high poverty school with 80% of our children receiving free/reduced lunch. We also have a high number of children coming from immigrant homes and who are now not only coming to school for the first time, they are also learning English for the first time. My children are all gifts and deserve a great education no matter what situations they are facing. These supplies will ensure my students become successful learners and are on the right path to becoming readers!

My Project

This cart stand will be used for many literacy activities. We will use the cart to display reading anchor charts and big books during reading instruction. It will also be used as an interactive center location for students to practice writing or use magnetic letters. During the age of kindergarten, it's important to provide a variety of activities to expose children to literature and literacy activities. Many of my students come from homes where they do not have books to read or parents that are unable to read to them. I want to give each child every opportunity I can to teach them to read and to keep that love of reading alive.

Your help will provide me with the supplies to continue to teach a love of reading to my students and effectively teach many early learning skills to where one day these little babies will know the success of being a reader themselves.

Thank you!
