Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember those days spent in elementary school sitting on the rug, reading stories, doing work, learning and having fun? With this classroom project, I would like to give my students this same opportunity.

My classroom is a buzz of activity, focused on giving kids the opportunities that they may not get elsewhere.

My 5th grade class is in a high-need, low income public school, nestled in the heart of southern California. Each of the students in my class is a vibrant, excited learner, who looks for the next opportunity to gain knowledge.

My Project

When students are able to move around the room and learn in different areas, they stimulate their brain and exercise their minds. Having a place to learn other than their hard-chaired desks will make the most of this idea. Whether it be for reading their core literature books, learning an engaging social studies lesson, or simply conducting group work, the rug will become a center of learning that can not be matched by a desk and chairs. What makes this rug especially useful is that it has the United States of America on it. In 5th grade, our focus is American History. Having this constant map to look at will allow my students to have one more resource at their fingertips to ensure success in learning.

Through your donation, you will be helping to create engaged, active learners.

Utilizing the requested rug will enable my students (both now and in the future) to learn at even greater depths and this will all be made possible because of your kind contribution.
