This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine trying to learn to play an instrument and not being able to hear what you are playing! My music students are interested in beginning piano, but we don't have enough headphones for everyone!

My students hail from an ethnically diverse neighborhood in an inner-city.

Most students, while very excited to learn how to play an instrument, do not have the means to get private lessons. Each year my music students are asked what instrument they are most interested in learning to play, and the response is always overwhelmingly Piano. They have the talent, drive, and desire, we just need the proper tools.

My Project

Our music program was blessed with five new keyboards this year. This brings the total number to eleven, including my own personal keyboard from home and one I received through Donor's Choose two years ago. However, we are lacking in the headphone department! I currently do not have enough headphones for my students to use with the keyboards! I can't have eleven keyboards playing without headphones at the same time, so I'm asking for fifteen sets for my music classes to use.

This donation will help at least 35 students learn beginning piano this year, and many more in the years to come.

I love being a music teacher because I can share that joy of playing music and my students feel such pride when they realize they can read music and play an instrument. Your donation would help make these inner-city students' dreams come true!
