My Students

Color is the greatest playground. Imagine a world without color. It is a very dull picture to imagine. Our children need to be able to express themselves with color and creativity with arts and crafts in the classroom.

My first grade class is hardworking, bright and very creative.

Due to budget cuts our children have been deprived of art classes and supplies. Our district is a high poverty school located in one of the poorest counties in the state. Being in a rural setting many of our parents must travel to other cities to work. I have children who's parents have lost their jobs and can not buy school supplies much less art materials. I believe that art is an amazing tool to help build creativity, expand their mind while strengthening their fine motor skills. Our students should not suffer due to the poor economy. We must encourage and empower our children with creative learning through arts and crafts.

My Project

The students of today have so many challenges with their home life, parental guidance, and changes in society. Working with projects our students can get away from this world and enjoy a world of creativity that makes a more beautiful and colorful place to live. A child's masterpiece can empower them. With this paint our students will learn the importance of color and how to create colors on the color wheel. Using these skills students will be making pictures on canvas and building collages. From buttons to paper punches students will be able to be creative and make creative crafts and classroom books to brighten and enhance their world. Not only will the students be able to make masterpieces but also accomplish a task and feel proud of their work. Lastly, through arts and crafts using the pom pom balls, feathers, wiggly eyes and glitter, I want to teach the children that everyone can make a brighter world.

I believe that teaching various art techniques and building craft projects in the classroom that our students can learn about the amazing world of art.

This will promote a more colorful environment for our students to work and live in. Help us brighten our world with arts and crafts in our classroom.
