Ms. Styer from Union City GA is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need crayons and markers to color and draw this school year. Our little artists have already used up half their crayons and our old markers are dried out.

Does a brand new marker make you want to draw? Me too! Our students use crayons and markers in many of their art assignments here in Art Class, and we also use them to plan in our sketchbooks, for Drawing Time after school, and even for encaustic painting and rubbings.
My students are primarily African American low income students.
They are usually from homes with many children and are being raised by grandparents, aunts, mothers and fathers, and step-parents. They are conservative in their beliefs and values, and believe in hard work and having fun while learning. They learn as a team and work as a team in art class, where they sit two or four to a table. Art class helps them learn teamwork, manners, sharing, and creativity not to mention the Art Curriculum!
My request is really for very basic art supplies. Although I ordered new crayons and markers last year, my first year as our school's art teacher, I was surprised at how quickly they were consumed! Everyone loves to use new, bright, juicy markers and fresh crayons. My students deserve good things and are inspired to keep them in good condition when they start out with nice brand new art supplies.
I require all of my students to join the Click Club when we use markers.
We countdown "3-2-1-CLICK!" to make sure that all caps end up on the markers tightly, thus helping them to last as long as possible. I've also trained them to use the side of their markers so that they last as long as possible rather than dulling the points and drying them out faster. They are now dried out and we need to replace these basic supplies. Thank you for reading this!
