Books are Treasures

My students need 15 copies each of "Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" and "Unwind" to complete their class sets! We have been enjoying these books through four semesters of and now we are a few short!

I found these two amazing books and students have been grateful ever since!

Our students in Savannah hadn't been introduced to books they could relate with, understand, enjoy and read with smiles.

These books only took a chapter and they were hooked! It isn't easy to get inner city students who have been literarily neglected to open up to a book, but they have and we need more!

My Project

These books have touched lives and hearts. All of a sudden students are engaged and writing and enjoying and communicating about the books. In fact, some of them have taken the books to their parents and friends and I am missing a few. They haven't been wasted. On the contrary, students beg for them!

Beach High School is a turn around school who has made marked improvement.

Reading scores are up and it is because we have books. It is so unfortunate to not have enough for them all to read at the same time!
