My Students

Picasso, Van Gogh, oh my! In order to inspire future artists I need to provide the necessary tools for their artistic expression. Young Diplomats Magnet Academy encourages creativity through the arts. Please help my class of pre-k scholars get the needed art supplies to be future artists!

Scholars at Young Diplomats Magnet Academy are students of low socio-economic status, who receive free lunch.

They attend and live in the heart of Uptown, New York. Scholars at Young Diplomats Magnet Academy are creative and artistic, but due to school budget cuts, funds for the arts have been cut. I want to bring back that artistic expression back to our students, starting with the basics of art and painting. I want to provide the opportunity for my scholars to artistically express themselves as they explore and inquire units of study that include learning all about themselves, things that move in the world, living things and ways to communicate with others. Besides expressing themselves artistically, painting will help these young scholars build better fine motor skills and artistic creativity and expression.

My Project

Future Picasso's and Van Gogh's need a stand to paint and dry their creative paintings. They need the flexibility of paints that are used with brushes and those used with their hands for finger painting. These supplies will allow students to make choices of how they want to express themselves. To add to this creative expression other painting materials are needed that will allow for different ways to paint would be resourceful. Just like surgeons who need their clamps, carpenters than need hammers and nails, artists need paper, paint, brushes and an area to express themselves their creativity! Please help create this dream!

Please help the Picasso's and Van Gogh's in my pre-k class express themselves!

They need an area where they know that they can express themselves freely, artistically, and creatively. In order to make this area visible we need the paint easel, paint cups, and different materials to make it happen! By having this area in our class scholars in my class will feel the artistic and creative freedom that painting would allow them to express in this art area.
