"What is a flash drive? Wikipedia defines it as “NAND-type flash memory integrated with a USB 1.1 or 2.0 interface used as a small, lightweight, removable data storage device.” As a high school English teacher I describe the flash drive a precious invention that allows students the ability to store, enhance, alter, and reproduce their creative works wherever they go. Essays, PowerPoints, Multi-media Projects all stored in a tiny thumb-sized device. Those students who can afford the flash drive have a considerable advantage over students who cannot afford the portable hard drive.

The ability to manipulate one's own writing is a valuable tool for revision. Students who have flash drives often come to school early to use the school's computers to revise their essays, poems, and short stories for my class. They can work on their writing at home and then work on it some more from school. When working on group projects, the flash drive is an invaluable tool for storing and sharing information. I would like all of my students to have access to this important piece of technology. Specifically, the flash drive will serve a digital portfolio of sorts where students will continually revise and work on their writing for my 10th grade English Language-Arts class.

Sixty percent of the students in my classes do not have flash drives. Many of them cannot afford the expense. With your help, I will be able to provide students with the technology they need to keep up in the 21st century. Thank you for making this dream a reality for my students.

The cost of these Portable Flash Drives is $749, including shipping and fulfillment ?.
