My Students

Every year in my class I read the story "The No Good Very Bad Day". The boy in the book says he is moving to Australia. So I have a stool and koala in my room. This place is "Australia" . A place to go when you are having a bad day. We talk about Australia and read my limited books on Australia.

I have a very diverse class.

Nine children are English Language Learners. This includes Asian, middle eastern, African American, American Indian. Living in Oklahoma is far from Australia. Our school is a suburban school of 450. I have 24 children in my class.

My Project

I am asking books about Australia and fictional Australian books to give my children in Oklahoma a taste and feel of Australia. I am also asking for a tablet to be able to take pictures and use Skype with a class in Australia. This may seem like a huge expense but I believe using books and technology will have a great impact on my children

I believe this project will be once in a lifetime adventure.

(Especially if you are 6). Australia is a far off wonderland and full of mystery. I also hope to share this adventure with the entire school. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share a small of part of the world with my children.
