My Students

If you have ever used an iPhone, iPod Touch or an iPad, you know the power of the visuals and sound effects in apps. My students are currently sharing one iTouch and when they have access to it, they are completely engaged and engrossed in their learning.

We are a class of 17 third graders.

These students are really an amazing group. Last year they raised money to help our local SPCA and also to help the victims of the tsunami in Japan. They love anything hands-on, especially in the area of science. We are composting with a vermicomposting bin in the classroom and growing our own snacks in a classroom garden.

My Project

These 2 iPod Touches will help my struggling students to understand concepts in a visual and engaging way. They will also bring a level of challenge for students who are ready for a higher level in math, reading, science or social studies. For example, the apps we will use for math include: motion math for fractions, mathemagics for a high level of challenge, Multigenius for multiplication and Math Train for a variety of math skills.

This project will help students to have their learning more individualized across curriculum areas.

It will also help them to gain the 21st century technology skills that will help them as they become lifelong learners.
