My Students

Do you remember projects you made in school and how much fun they were to make and how much you learned? Our school and district are reeling under budget cuts due to the poor economy and reduced tax revenues. Supplies are in even shorter supply than usual!

The vast majority of my students are the children of 1st generation immigrants to the United States.

They understand that their parents came to this country to give them a chance at a better life than they had in their country of origin. They therefore, are very interested in their education and have a great desire to get ahead. They want to please their families and their teachers. Our school has 97% of the students on the federal free or reduced lunch program and is located in a major urban area in the Mid-West. We are underfunded and under resourced. That is why your generous donation would be most greatly appreciated and accepted.

My Project

I did a survey at the beginning of the year and learned my students like student-centered activities and are visual learners. The project I have in mind plays to their stated strengths and preferences. By using new supplies such as posterboard, colored notecards and pencils, my students will be able to create a graphic presentation of a major battle of the the Civil War. They also will print photos of the principal General of each side for their particular battle of study. They will bring the project home to get a grade from their parents so the families will be educated also!!

Your donation would give my students the opportunity to use new and vibrant materials to learn about America's great past.

The parents are also to grade this project, so they would learn about American history also. By your generous donation, you will be helping both students and adults!
