I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide the funding to assist my kindergarten students in learning their colors through a complete and exciting color project. We live in a Rainbow World and the children who immerse themselves in it will increase in both their imaginations and their overall readiness skills such as reading,language, and writing. Through color exploration the children will also be learning about science when they mix colors, look at patterns, and materials as well as camouflage (animals and plants).
As a kindergarten teacher for over 26 years, I have experienced the excitement my students show when we have color weeks at the beginning of the school year. The children begin to notice colors as well as have fun wearing, drawing about, and learning about the selected color for the week. Since most of the students are either non-English or limited English speakers, they will benefit greatly from the enhancement of lessons using a variety of media and colors. Their opportunities for home activities and to share with their families will also be increased by the lessons.
The materials needed for the lessons will include a colorful area rug which will be used for imagination play and sharing activities. An assortment of art supplies such as markers, paints, and other interesting materials will be used for art projects where the children will share with each other and cross grade buddies. Additional home activities will be provided using some of the materials for families to assist and also participate in the children's learning. I would be very grateful if the Rainbow World can come alive for my students. I know the children will enjoy exploring the colors and will have a fun creative experience which will positively influence all their learning now and in the future.
