My Students

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Nickels and dimes and quarters, oh my! We need help with money skills. Please put my class on the yellow brick road to success with counting money and making change.

My students are eager third graders who really need some extra practice in their math skills.

Math is our area of weakness, and my entire school is making efforts to improve this situation. We are in a Title I, county-wide magnet school in the state of South Carolina.

My Project

If only my class had an adequate supply of model coins and dollars, I could ensure that each student gets the amount of practice needed to help them master the skills of counting money and making change. Our classroom has a SmartBoard, so if we had the interactive CD-ROM lessons, I could follow the mastery teaching model by showing examples to the whole class, practicing together, and then having each of them practice with the model money. This would all be further reinforced if we had activities for our math center for independent practice.

With your generosity, my students could feel confidence instead of frustration as they try to master the skills of counting money and making change.

These are important skills that last a lifetime. You would be helping my class be better managers of their own money and paving the way on our yellow brick road to success.
