Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my first year as a teacher, my classroom budget is small, and our classroom has very few science materials. Science is a great way to engage the students in many modes of learning. I want to use the materials from this project to bring science to life for them.
My students are very culturally diverse.
We have students with heritages from all over Central and South America, Indonesia, Africa, the Pacific Islands, Europe, and much more. We are a high-poverty school with families who are struggling to make ends meet. The school offers families an opportunity to send their children to a safe and engaging place. The students have blossomed in the Montessori method and continue to be excited about learning.
My Project
These resources provide students with concrete examples of what we will be learning in class. They will receive a great deal of information regarding the formation of the Earth, ecosystems, the rock cycle, Chemistry, life cycle, and so much more. Having concrete objects and visuals to help them understand the concepts will be invaluable and will stimulate learning and interest.
Science is exciting!
It is multidimensional and inspires students to become interested in a myriad of disciplines. I plan to use the materials and objects to develop passions for learning about life, the formation of the earth, and its sustainability.
