My Students

Our class pencil sharpener has died. Our school sharpener eats the pencils. Help!

I teach second grade at a visual and performing arts school.

We are in a low performing district in a high needs community. I have many English language learners and students of all academic levels in my class. They love to take turns sharpening all the pencils but without a pencil sharpener we are forced to go find another classroom that has one.

My Project

Having a working pencil is essential in our everyday activities in the classroom. With a new pencil sharpener for our classroom, we can eliminate time being wasted when we go searching for a room that has a working sharpener, as well as, being able to complete school work with a nice sharp pencil. My students need an electric pencil sharpener to keep their pencils ready to work.

When we came back to school, the sharpener we had did not work at all.

We do not have a working pencil sharpener in our classroom. I would love a pencil sharpener to help keep my second graders focused on their work instead of worrying about their pencil issues.
