New Frontiers: iPad Learning

My students need an iPad, a cover and a VGA adapter to use as a computer center.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Unfortunately it has been many years since technology was updated for my students. I have five old iMacs in my room for my students to use but they are over 8 years old and can't access many web pages!! The iPad would be used as a computer center for literacy, math and science.

My students are very open and curious and excited to learn new technology.

An iPad would allow them to experience technology at its fastest and most efficient. They could use the iPad to access their online accounts to practice math skills and read books. They would also be able to use it as a literacy center-listen to authors read their own stories and use the web to publish their thinking about the texts to communicate with other children from around the globe. They could also use it to access apps to provide practice: such as dictionary and iThesaurus to open their eyes to the world of words and apps in mathematics to practice skills and problem solving. Access to Safari allows them to access the Internet which would allow them to use our class web page as a resource and access other educational sites. They could also use keynote to create presentations and project them onto the screen to show other students and parents.

My Project

I would like to request an iPad, a cover and a VGA adapter so that it can be projected onto a screen to show them how to use it. The iPad has Wi-Fi so they will be able to access the Internet, use apps and create presentations. We already have cameras and flipcams so I will show them how to use photography to create science presentations to demonstrate their understanding. I will also teach them keynote to create those presentations and project them for sharing. Apps will help provide practice of important skills and iBook/Kindle will provide access to books which are unavailable in our library and can be read aloud to them if needed. The cover will protect it from careless little hands. The VGA will allow me to show them how to use apps and programs and allow them to project their work onto the screen.

Please help my students experience the newest technology.

They would appreciate your help so much. An iPad would be used as a computer center which all students could access. They will learn how to use photography in science and access videos that will enhance their understanding of the world. Literacy will be improved through books and writing. You will be providing them a gift that will encourage them to become lifelong learners. Thank you.
