Can I Sharpen My Pencil Please?

My students need a pencil sharpener in their classroom to save time and to help them complete their work.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember going back to school with new sharp pencils? There is something about having a sharp pencil that inspires children to work hard.

My students are in the third and fourth grade.

They are hard workers, and many of them speak another language at home. In my classroom there are five or more different languages spoken at home. Their school has 600 students. They live in a low income area where 70% of them receive free lunch. It is hard for my students to afford any extras for school. I buy many of the basic supplies for my classroom.

My Project

A new pencil sharpener will allow my students to have the supplies that they need. It is hard to do work when you do not have a sharpened pencil. With this new pencil sharpener my students will be able to quickly sharpen and get right back to work. This electric sharpener will be an improvement over the old hand crank one that does not work.

You would not believe how much time is wasted in a classroom with students finding a pencil or sharpening it.

This new electric sharpener will allow my students to sharpen pencils quickly and get right back to work.
