My Students

Who wouldn't want to join the "After-Dinner Mint Club"? I would like to challenge and encourage my disadvantaged students to read at home with their parents by providing take home packets of books, bookmarks, activities and dinner mints for after dinner reading.

Our students attend an inner city school where the vast majority (79.4%) have free or reduced lunch.

Our students are eager to learn but many need that extra push to realize their potential. Often the parents want to help but feel that they are not capable of contributing.

My Project

With your contribution the students will proudly become members of the "After-Dinner Mint Club"! They will take home books to read with their parents, along with dinner mints, to encourage after dinner reading. The time spent with parent and child reading together is rewarding in itself, but in addition the student's comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency will increase providing a strong foundation for learning.

With your contribution, we can create the "After-Dinner Mint Club".

YOU will play a vital part in building a lifelong love of reading in these students. Children whose parents read to them tend to become better readers and perform better in school, according to the National Center for Education Statistics.
