My Students

Did you want to work for NASA? Basics of rocketry will enhance my students' motivation to become interested in science related fields. Middle school students need hands on activities that motivate and give them the skills to take higher levels of mathematics and science in high school.

Our student population is decided by a lottery that pulls from all four quadrants of the district equally.

The student population is very diverse and in an urban district with low socioeconomics. My classes include a range of students from gifted to those with learning disabilities.

My Project

I am requesting the components of model rockets to enhance the understanding of measurements, motion, force, and aerodynamics. This project will also promote cooperative learning, differentiated instruction and project based learning. The unit includes the students creating rubber band cars and paper rockets with regular classroom items. Using the model rockets will give the students an elevated experience with motion and force. Also it will give them the opportunity to use advanced measurements.

Your donation creates a project that promotes the skills and motivation needed to take higher levels of mathematics and science in high school.

This project gives high poverty students the opportunity to experience the concepts of model rockets.
