At the end of the academic year, my students were starting to tell me that they read all the books in our library. I am moving to third grade with my students, and will also have second graders in a special education 2nd/3rd grade bridge class. We need to expand our library.
My students have a range of special needs, including autism, emotional disabilities, cognitive delays, and learning disabilities.
What is more important than their disabilities is their abilities. They are enthusiastic, hard working, and are learning to be self-disciplined. We had a great year last year, and I am fortunate enough to be able to continue working with them this year.
My Project
I have chosen books that are of high interest to my second and third graders. Whenever I introduce new books to our library, the children get excited, and are motivated to jump into a great, new book. I have picked a few book series so that the children can follow a character through many adventures.
Your donation will bring us a step closer to inspiring students to continue reading and challenging themselves.
These books are a little longer, and will help build their stamina. They will also give them an opportunity to get lost in more engaging stories.
