Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Technology is changing the way we can learn. My lower level learners would benefit from having this laptop in the classroom. I need your help to provide them the opportunity to succeed. It will be used to download phonics and math programs to build necessary skills and to create a class DVD.

I work in a high-need community, title one school.

Over 90% our students that attend our school get free lunch. I am looking to nurture my students learning by using computers in the classroom. We currently only have one desktop, which you can imagine only gets used by a few students during the day.

My Project

With your gift my students will be able to use it for a variety of school use. They will be able to use the Hooked on Phonics program. Programs like these will help me keep track of students progress. As they become more independent with their computer skills they will be able to access educational websites too. At the end of each school year, I create a class DVD. I capture my students in the classroom learning and on trips and school performances. With the parents approval I create a DVD for each child. This updated computer will allow me to create this special gift.
